Week 16 training. We are now in the month that precedes the month in which I will run my ill-conceived 100 K. Highlights of the week included spending time with family and driving to the magical land of 14ers. The crappiest part of the training week was a long run attempt in 90+ degree heat and semi-failing. Twice!
Week 13 in training and 40 miles complete. Highs: back-to-back long runs (one being a trail run!!), a summer-ish BBQ, and Taco Tuesday. Lows: Chris Cornell died.
Week 12 training was a pull back week! I like those. A trail run, a trip home to the DC area, my friend’s bridal shower, and a visit to my mom’s new home. And 28 miles for the week.
Here I sit two years after hitting the “register” button for the Silver Rush 50 miler and I feel the itch again. More stable job? Routines? Great opportunity to sit and coast? Time to indulge in the first-world citizen luxury of creating self-inflicted pain!!
Making food and then demolishing the kitchen that allows you to make food. Good-bye blue laminate counter tops!
The followup to my Silver Rush 50 Miler race recap. Don’t miss it – I even include a picture of my sleeping-bag-bag-curtains that unsurprisingly allow for me to sleep 3.5 hours the night before the race.
About two years ago I thought to myself, “30 is the arbitrary marker by which society thinks I will start decaying in front of everyone’s eyes. Now is the time to make a bucket list.” It’s (you guessed it!) 30 items long with some big goals and some smaller ones.
This is the story of my first 50 mile run. Specifically, the Silver Rush 50 Run in Leadville, Colorado.
Today I ate things and ran on a trail and worked. Wee!
Today I ate things and ran and worked. Kind of like other days?
