Week 15 training complete. My “worst” week of training so far (aka, not much running) – but half the week was spent in Utah (hooray!) and two days were spent flying home and participating in my best friend’s wedding (hooray!). Lots of fun stuff this month, it’s been a blur.
Week 14 training complete – 46 miles total. Including a 20 mile trail long run and a trip to Utah for the holiday weekend!
Alcatraz Canyon is a great full day, intermediate canyon in Robber’s Roost, Utah. Featuring fun rappels with big views, and beautiful, challenging narrows.
No Man’s canyon was fun with lots of high stemming over water, 10+ foot drops requiring teamwork and a RIDICULOUSLY FUN 150 ft overhanging rappel finale.
Week 9 training in the books. Half of it was spent in the desert, and the other half with decreased mileage. 24 miles in the running and hiking variety.
Last week’s training culminated in a 13 mile long run AND a glorious five day trip to the desert! I’m a lucky lady.
Lost Angel Canyon is a short and dry technical canyon in the North Wash area of Utah. It features a fun 197 foot rappel at the end. We took about double the expected time to complete this canyon because as we walked downstream along the river to exit we ran into sheer rock walls and had to cross the river four times. It made things a little more interesting!
November! November signals the end of the election cycle and feeling overjoyed that door-to-door solicitors will STOP COMING EVERY DAY and Thanksgiving and family…
The Little Wild Horse Canyon – Bell Canyon loop hike is a popular day hike in the San Rafael Swell region. The loop hike is 8 miles and takes 3-4 hours. With no technical skills required, this is a great slot canyon to explore for just about everyone.
The best canyon of our desert road trip was Red Breaks Canyon in Escalante, Utah. What a gorgeous slot canyon – colorful, sinuous, and not too tight!
